You’ve chosen rootful mode—great for maximum tweak compatibility. Here's how to set it up correctly on your MacBook with Palera1n:

πŸ”§ Step 1: Install Palera1n on macOS

sudo /bin/sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://static.palera.in/scripts/install.sh)"

Ensure Terminal has Full Disk Access in System Preferences → Privacy & Security (onejailbreak.com).

⚙️ Step 2: Prepare Rootful Setup (FakeFS)

Rootful mode uses a fake filesystem so tweaks can modify root-level files. Choose based on your iPhone storage:

  • 16 GB device: Use partial FakeFS to reduce storage use (~2–3 GB):

    palera1n -Bf

  • 32 GB or higher: You can create the full FakeFS (~10 GB):

    palera1n -fc

These flags create the writable layer for rootful mode (onejailbreak.com).

πŸŒ€ Step 3: Jailbreak in Rootful Mode

After FakeFS is ready:

palera1n -f

It will prompt you to connect the device, enter recovery (if needed), then DFU. Follow these steps:

  1. Hold Power + Volume Down for 10 s

  2. Release Power, keep holding Volume Down for ~5–8 s (screen stays black)

  3. Palera1n proceeds with the jailbreak.

If stuck at "Booting PongoOS", press Ctrl+C and rerun palera1n -f (onejailbreak.com).

🧩 Step 4: Load Tweaks & Filza

  • After reboot, open Palera1n Loader on the iPhone

  • Install Sileo

  • In Sileo, install Filza File Manager, RocketBootstrap, and other tweaks

You’re now running in full rootful mode—enabling tweaks that need root file modification.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Rootful requires a re-jailbreak after every reboot: simply rerun palera1n -f.

  • FakeFS uses additional storage (~2–10 GB depending on device size) (onejailbreak.com, docs.palera.in, x.com).

  • On A11 devices, passcode must be disabled before using rootful (ios.cfw.guide).

  • To undo everything, use:

    palera1n --force-revert -f

    This restores original filesystem (x.com).

✅ Quick Reference

Command Purpose
palera1n -Bf Create partial FakeFS (for 16 GB devices)
palera1n -fc Create full FakeFS (for ≥32 GB devices)
palera1n -f Jailbreak in rootful mode
Rerun -f after each reboot Re-enable jailbreak
palera1n --force-revert -f Remove jailbreak and FakeFS

πŸ€” Still unsure?

  • Want help choosing FakeFS option?

  • Need a walkthrough during DFU process?

  • Want to switch back to rootless later?

Just say the word—I’ve got your back!
